Vacation of my dreams

I took the best vacation ever!

First off let's just talk about how well-needed this was.

Now let's get into details......

I wanted to go somewhere warm but not too hot. I wasn't sure if I wanted to be by the water or something more inland. I decided on a little bit of both water and land.

I got myself a beautiful air B&B that was within walking distance to the water. I needed to make sure I kept my options open. It was not like I was going to go swimming or anything but maybe I'd want to just take a stroll by the water.

All I wanted to do was find a nice cozy spot and read, maybe even write, and definitely relax. I just wanted time to myself, somewhat of a foreign concept to me. Somehow, I had it, no children, no crazy drama, just me, my thoughts, and a quiet spot for me to relax.

The place I was staying at had a beautiful garden area out back, quite big too. It was beautiful and there was a big tree towards the back of the yard with a lovely seat just under it.

I had found my spot to read.

It was like that spot was made just for me.

As I sat down I noticed the sun was shining in the perfect spot, keeping me nice and warm. It wasn't in one of those strange spots where you had to almost shield your face or your book so you could read. It gave a beautiful glow for me to read under, in the perfect spot.

Before I knew it the light was getting smaller and smaller, and it started to get a bit chilly. So, I decided to go inside and find something to eat.

Once I got inside, I started a fire, which was so magical looking. The way the living room was set up was absolutely beautiful. There was a very cozy rug right in front of the fireplace. It was calling my name. A great-looking bottle of white wine was also calling my name.

I had brought some groceries with me, my stomach is so sensitive these days plus I have, what feels like, a million restrictions when it comes to food (I won’t get into that right now). I chose my salmon with zucchini and carrots along with garlic mashed potatoes, one of my favorite dishes.

After I finished cooking, I grabbed my laptop, my wine (and a glass), my dinner, and myself and sat in front of the fire watching Queen Charlotte as I ate my food and drank my wine. I was so relaxed, something I hadn't felt in, well I guess, years. The last time I was this relaxed I had one child, I was 21 and I had a week off from work.

After I ate and made it through 5 episodes, I decided to call it a night and head to bed.

The bedroom was gorgeous!

It had a queen bed with the fluffiest pillows and the warmest plush blanket. After I got my Pj's on and finished my last glass of wine I laid down and fell right to sleep..........

Out of nowhere, I felt something, or someone jump on my head!

"MOM! WAKE UP!"

There RIGHT in my face was the dog, standing over my head was one of my children.

The fluffiest pillows were gone, and the glass that held my wine no longer existed.

Once I fully woke up, I realized

it was all....

a.....

dream.

I wanted to cry but I was still somewhat sleepy.

Not only was I having the best vacation ever, but it was the best sleep ever. I was so relaxed, and the damn dog woke me up!

I wanted to fall back to sleep so badly. I wanted nothing more than to hide under my blanket (that wasn't that plush anymore) and force myself back to sleep but I couldn’t, and I was mad.

All I can say is, "Kids, if your mom is sleeping oh so nicely and it’s not an emergency don't wake her. Let her sleep. She could be having the best vacation ever and you just funked it up! Wake up Dad instead his dream vacation doesn't matter.....Not even a little.....okay maybe a little but a very little.".
